Purpose

The purposes of this study were to evaluate the reproducibility for measuring the cold pressor test (CPT)-induced myocardial blood flow (MBF) alteration using phase-contrast (PC) cine MRI, and to determine if this approach could detect altered MBF response to CPT in smokers.

Materials and methods

After obtaining informed consent, ten healthy male non-smokers (mean age: 28 ± 5 years) and ten age-matched male smokers (smoking duration ≥ 5 years, mean age: 28 ± 3 years) were examined in this institutional review board approved study. Breath-hold PC cine MR images of the coronary sinus were obtained with a 3 T MR imager with 32 channel coils at rest and during a CPT performed after immersing one foot in ice water. MBF was calculated as coronary sinus flow divided by the left ventricular (LV) mass which was given as a total LV myocardial volume measured on cine MRI multiplied by the specific gravity (1.05 g/mL).

Results

In non-smokers, MBF was 0.86 ± 0.25 mL/min/g at rest, with a significant increase to 1.20 ± 0.36 mL/min/g seen during CPT (percentage change of MBF (?MBF (%)); 39.2% ± 14.4%, p < 0.001). Inter-study reproducibility for ?MBF (%) measurements by different MR technologist was good, as indicated by the intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.93 and reproducibility coefficient of 10.5%. There was no significant difference between smokers and non-smokers for resting MBF (0.85 ± 0.32 mL/min/g, p = 0.91). However, ?MBF (%) in smokers was significantly reduced (-4.0 ± 32.2% vs. 39.2 ± 14.4%, p = 0.011).

Conclusion

PC cine MRI can be used to reproducibly quantify MBF response to CPT and to detect impaired flow response in smokers. This MR approach may be useful for monitoring the sequential change of coronary blood flow in various potentially pathologic conditions and for investigating its relationship with cardiovascular risk.  相似文献

Ion-exclusion chromatography has been successfully applied to the separation of a number of perfluoroalkylsulfinic acids and perfluoroalkylsulfonic acids. The separation of various perfluoroalkylsulfinic and perfluoroalkylsulfonic acids, with different alkyl groups, was investigated on a polymethacrylate-based, weakly acidic, cation-exchange resin (TSK gel OApak-A) in the H+-form and using conductimetric detection. When water was used as the eluent, these perfluoroalkylsulfinic and perfluoroalkylsulfonic acids could not be resolved. When an aqueous solution of benzoic acid and o-phthalic acid was used, the separation of each of these acids occurred. In order to improve their separation, the effect of the addition of methanol and 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol, as organic modifiers, was also investigated.  相似文献

Random copolymerizations of L ‐lactide with (R)‐, (S)‐, or rac‐1‐methyltrimethylene carbonate with bis(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) samarium‐methyl tetrahydrofuranate [(C5Me5)2SmMe(THF)] as a novel initiator provided high molecular weight polymers with low polydispersities. Biodegradation of the resulting polymers with tricine and {N‐[tris(hydroxymethyl)methyl]‐2‐aminoethane sulfonic acid (TES) buffers as well as activated sludge showed only a small weight loss, whereas the polymer with proteinase K revealed high biodegradability independent of the optical activity of 1‐methyltrimethylene carbonate. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (Ba1−xLax)2In2O5+x, whose end member is Ba2In2O5, is an oxygen-deficient perovskite oxide showing high oxide-ion conductivity. In order to clarify the reason why the high oxide ion conductivity appeared in this system, the electrical conductivity was measured as a function of temperature and La content. With an increasing La content, the discontinuous jump of ion conductivity in the Arrhenius plot, which is related to the disordering of the oxygen vacancies, disappeared for the sample with x0.2. Above x=0.12, the ion conductivity linearly increased with La content, while the activation energy remained constant with respect to the La content. Moreover, the conductivity for x=0.6 was 0.042 (S/cm) at 1073 K, which exceeded that of 8 mol% yttria-stabilized zirconia. The higher oxide-ion conductivity of this system could be dominated by the amount of mobile oxygen ions.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to establish Nadel type vanishing theorems with multiplier ideal sheaves of singular metrics admitting an analytic Zariski decomposition (such as, metrics with minimal singularities and Siu’s metrics). For this purpose, we generalize Kollár’s injectivity theorem to an injectivity theorem for line bundles equipped with singular metrics, by making use of the theory of harmonic integrals. Assuming an electronic resonance condition, we study the shape-dependence of the radiation force (RF) on a semiconductor quantum dot (QD) floating in medium and the optically induced mechanical interaction (OIMI) between two QDs with Maxwell stress tensor (MST) method, where the response fields are calculated by the improved discrete dipole approximation (DDA). Main results are as follows: (1) Properties of the RF on an isolated QD drastically change due to its shape and polarization of an incident light, which can be used for shape-selective manipulation. (2) Anomalous OIMI between two QDs arises depending on the spatial structures of internal fields, which results from the interaction between polarizations in respective QDs when they are near each other.  相似文献
